Traditional Classrooms Foster . . .
Strong Classroom Community: Student social and emotional development is enhanced through a variety of programs including Responsive Classroom, PBIS, and Second Step. Teachers build community and rapport through activities such as morning meetings, modeling, team work, whole-class incentives, and positive reinforcement.
Personalized Learning: Teachers respond to individual academic needs through personalized learning strategies utilizing a variety of resources supporting the Common Core State Standards, providing daily choice, and engaging projects. Teachers also accommodate student needs by providing an active learning environment while working closely with school personnel and families.
Home-to-School Connections: Families are provided resources and opportunities to participate in their students’ academic growth through book bags, in-class activities, at-home activities, and family nights hosted by the school. Communication between the classroom teacher and families is strengthened through tools such as newsletters, Class Dojo, and Seesaw.
Community Partnerships: Our community plays an important role in our learning and our schools. Volunteers are invited into the classroom to work with students, share personal experiences, and their expertise. Students gain a local and global awareness through local speakers, service projects, and field trips.
