Orchard & Walking Trails
School Vegetable Gardens
The current school vegetable gardens will be taken to a new level where we will be growing food for our school. We have started with microgreens in our greenhouse, but would like to do more. Extra vegetables can be sold through farmers market. Students in every grade will have the opportunity to help plant, tend, and harvest the school gardens.
Goats, Sheep & Hogs
Members of the Amery FFA will have the opportunity to raise, care for, and show various types of animals at the Polk County Fair utilizing the school farm facilities. Students will also benefit from the presence of these animals during classroom laboratory sessions in large and small animal science courses. This program will be set up so that more students will have a chance to show at the fair and raise money for themselves and our program.
Horse Training
The facility will allow for the horsemanship program at Amery High School to grow exponentially. Students will have easy access to the horses they are training and an arena allowing more time to be spent learning and engaging. Members of the horsemanship class will also be responsible for the care of their assigned horse including stall cleaning, feeding, grooming, exercising and training.
