Youth Apprenticeship
Students in 11th or 12th Grade have the option to learn and earn in our Youth Apprenticeship Program. There are 1- or 2-year options available in a variety of areas including Agriculture, Business, Construction, Health Care, Hospitality, IT, Marketing, Manufacturing, and others. complete related courses at Amery High School and work in a local business. Upon completion of the skills checklists established by the state Dept. of Workforce Development, students earn a certificate. Some of our students work during the school day while others work during the evenings and weekends. This program is an amazing opportunity for our students to develop valuable workplace skills. Our local business community has been very involved and supportive of this program since the inception in 1994. Typically, we have 70-80 students in the program during a school year. We are very proud of this partnership with our businesses and our district has been a leader in the state for Youth Apprenticeship.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academies
CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) ACADEMIES prepare students for careers that reflect the contemporary workplace. Many of the academy students are also in the Youth Apprenticeship program developing valuable workplace skills. CTE Academies are offered at Amery High School in the following areas:
- Construction - The AHS Construction Academy students have built and sold four complete houses in the past four school years!
- Agriculture - An additional 35 acres has been purchased next to the school campus for future expansion of hands-on agriculture education.
- Catering
- Entrepreneurship

Dual Enrollment
Students can earn University of WI River Falls (UWRF), Northwood Technical College, and Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) credits while in high school. These credits can be applied to UWRF, Northwood Technical College, CVTC, or transferred to other institutions.
Industry Recognized Credentials
Students have opportunities to earn credentials in the areas of: Assistant Childcare Teacher, Carpentry, Certified Nursing Assistant, CISCO IT Essentials, OSHA 10 or 30, and CPR. Some of our students also pursue Firefighter and EMT certifications. The purpose of these credentials is for students to have proof/validation of their skills to share with potential employers and help them move into post-secondary training opportunities.
Work-Based Learning
Students are developing valuable skills while working at job sites in our community. Our community business partners mentor students and provide feedback. Students are able to learn and earn! We have Youth Apprenticeship and Work Experience work-based learning options for our students.
Advanced and Advanced Placement® (AP) Courses
Amery High School offers a variety of advanced courses and Advanced Placement® courses which may fluctuate from year to year based on student demand. See below for a list of AP and advanced course offerings in our current course-book.
- Advanced Placement® Offerings: AP English Literature and Composition, AP US Government and Politics, AP US History, AP Calculus I, AP Biology and AP Physics C: Mechanics
- Advanced Offerings: Advanced Independent Art, College Preparatory English, French IV/V, Spanish IV/V, Advanced Algebra II, Advanced Statistics & Probability, Pre-Calculus I/ II, Calculus II, Advanced Chemistry, Chemistry and Physics.
