A student who meets Global Education Achievement Certificate (GEAC) program completion criteria is eligible to be recognized as a Wisconsin Global Scholar.
“Global Scholars is designed to improve global learning across the curriculum in an effort to prepare all students to be workforce-, world-, and life-ready with global competence.” (DPI definition)
Global Scholars is a student-led program offered by the state of Wisconsin in which they work individually and with their peers. Upon completion, students will be recognized as global citizens and acknowledged at Senior Night with a certificate from the Wisconsin DPI.
Requirements :
- 4 credits of sustained learning in one World Language
- 4 credits of coursework designed to facilitate global learning (this are offered by the school district)
- 8 reflections on global learning and cultural literacy development through reading 4 or more books (fiction or nonfiction), and including up to 4 learning experiences through art, films, music, and podcasts
- Active participation/leadership in 4 or more activities/events with a global focus.
- 20 or more hours of service learning projects related to a global issue. (See below for more details.)
Community Service : “Think global, act local.”
The twenty (20) community service hours are based on Sustainable Development Goals . Students will focus on one of these goals to complete their community service:
